Used for treating acne, signs of ageing, and inflammation, our LED skin treatments use wavelengths of light to increase collagen and tissues. These help smooth out your skin and leave you with an undeniable afterglow.
You might find it cool to know that NASA originally developed light emitting diodes for plant growth experiments on shuttle missions, and later found it to have promise for wound treatment specifically with cancer patients. This powerful LED light therapy is now used by many aestheticians like us to treat acne and regenerate the skin from aging. There are two different frequencies used in our LED light facials:
Red light frequencies are used to treat the outer layer of skin. Once the short pulses of light are applied to the affected area, the skin absorbs the rays and stimulates collagen proteins. Collagen helps make your skin look fuller and smoother, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
On the other hand, blue light frequencies target the sebaceous glands (commonly known as oil glands) which are located beneath your hair follicles. These glands are there to hydrate the skin and hair, but can become a problem when they overreact, resulting in oily skin and acne. The blue light targets these oil glands to make them less active, meaning you’ll see fewer acne breakouts. It can also get underneath the skin to kill the bacteria that causes acne, treating severe pimples, cysts, and nodules.
LED light therapy is a painless, non-invasive skin treatment that helps the skin appear smoother, tighter, and more radiant. As well as boosting the appearance of your skin, it’s been found to be beneficial for your mental health too. Nicknamed the ‘happy light’, LED therapy lamps can potentially brighten your mood and boost serotonin levels especially during the colder months where natural light is minimal.
