Treatment
Milia are small white or yellowish raised cysts, bumps, or spots on the skin, typically found around the eyes and cheeks. They’re very different from your usual spots and pimples. Milia feel quite hard and don’t have any redness or inflammation, often appearing in clusters.
Our most common type of milia removal is a minor procedure that uses a sterile needle. Once the affected area has been cleaned, the needle creates a tiny incision to carefully extract the milia. This is the best way to treat milia; the extraction process is over in the space of 30 minutes and you’ll barely feel a thing.
What Causes Milia?
Milia are caused when keratin, the strong protein found in skin tissues, becomes trapped beneath the surface of the skin. If this build-up of keratin doesn’t disappear naturally, it can become a small cyst. Primary milia is usually found around the eyes because it’s a lot harder for skincare products to penetrate the area properly. The eye area also doesn’t contain the oil glands that help keep this skin moist. Secondary milia looks similar to primary milia but develops very differently. It happens when something clogs the sweat ducts, usually caused by some kind of skin trauma or infection.
Skin Peel Treatment For Milia
If you’ve been on the hunt for a suitable facial to get rid of milia, then our skin peels might be the best course of treatment for you. Chemical skin peels are a great way of reducing persistent milia because they deeply exfoliate the skin to lift off the top layer of dead skin cells, revealing the fresh, rejuvenated, milia-free skin below.
It’s important you continue to show your skin some love following your treatment at Grand Aesthetics to get the best results. You’ll be prescribed a bespoke course of treatments and home care products to take with you, all of which will be explained in detail.
